Liverpool have been warned they face missing out on Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham if Jurgen Klopp’s future remains unclear. Former Reds shot-stopper David James has claimed the head coach of a club could determine where Bellingham chooses to move.
Bellingham’s incredible form in Germany has seen him long been linked with a move to Anfield. But former England man James wonders if the future of Klopp – who has only two years remaining on his contract – will influence Bellingham’s decision.
“He fits the profile of a person that would suit Liverpool,” James told gaming website GGRecon.
“When you look at what Liverpool have got and what they’ve got coming through and how things are set up then the only question that you’d have to ask if you’re Jude is how long is Jürgen Klopp going to be there.
“I imagine that would have an influence when it comes to him choosing his next club and the same can be said for Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel at Manchester City and Chelsea respectively as those two sides are reportedly interested too.”
Express Sport picks three alternatives to Bellingham for if James’ foresight turns out to be true.
Yves Bissouma
Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma has earned a reputation as one of the most highly-sought stars in the Premier League.
The Mali international has become a key figure in the Seagulls’ midfield and has been linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal.
Bissouma is a slightly different type of midfielder to Bellingham but would be adept in one of the No. 8 roles or as the deepest player in a trio.
The 25-year-old will enter the final year of his contract in the summer so might be acquired on the cheap if he does not renew his Brighton deal.

Aurelien Tchouameni
High praise from Paul Pogba last year alerted several clubs to Aurelien Tchouameni.
“Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man. It’s a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality,” Pogba said after starring alongside the Monaco starlet for France at the Nations League.
“We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side.”
The 22-year-old was linked with Chelsea in the summer but a transfer did not materialise.
A dynamic and intelligent midfielder, he would add steel to Liverpool’s midfield and could even be a long-term replacement for Fabinho.

Nicolo Barella
Italy’s Nicolo Barella was one of the stars of the Azzurri’s incredible Euro 2020-winning campaign.
The 25-year-old is probably the closest in this list to Bellingham’s playing style.
A box-to-box midfielder, the Inter Milan star scored one and assisted a further goal at Euro 2020.
He covered nearly 10km per game and would fit right into Klopp’s energetic, all-action style.
