Thomas Partey wins Arsenal player of the month despite slamming himself as 4/10
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has won the club's player of the month award for February – despite only giving himself a rating of 4/10 for his Gunners career so far.
Partey, 28, joined the north Londoners in October 2020 following a £45million deal with Atletico Madrid but has struggled with consistency due to injuries.
However, the Ghanian star has enjoyed a good run of games of late, forming a solid partnership with Granit Xhaka at the base of the midfield.
His performances have helped the Gunners break into the top four for the first time in two months – and seen him rewarded with the club's player of the month award for February.
He won 49 per cent of the vote, narrowly edging out Norwegian maestro Martin Odegaard, with England youngster Bukayo Saka in third.
Despite his excellent recent form, Partey struggled during his first season in north London due to a combination of injuries and playing behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the midfielder is his own biggest critic and didn't hold back when assessing his contribution to Mikel Arteta's side in an interview in December.
"I give myself four [out of 10], because there are moments I can really hurt the other team but there are also moments where I allow myself to lose focus and that's when everything goes down," Partey told Sky Sports News.

"This is when you realise that you have to get better."
That interview came just a few days after Arsenal's 3-2 defeat to Manchester United – a performance Partey reflected on with a view to his future displays.
Partey added: "At the end, I have to be happy with some moments, I have to learn from the bad parts and try to do better.
"I think they demanded more and personally I know I can give more. I have to keep working and at the end I will get the results. From the defence to the attack, I can help the team a lot.
"I have to read more of the game. Now I am having a lot of continuous games, it is normal that some games, or some moments in the games, I will be down.
"With more games, with more confidence, I will be able to get to where I want to be."
Partey appears to have taken his own words on board as his performances now are indicative of a player who is performing at a level much more than just a four out of ten.
