Thibaut Courtois gives four back-to-back interviews in four different languages

Some footballers may get a reputation for not being the smartest characters, but Thibaut Courtois isn't one of them as he flexed his language skills after Real Madrid beat Frankfurt 2-0 on Wednesday.

The Champions League hero produced another fine display in the UEFA Super Cup, and helped Madrid to another European trophy as he kept a clean sheet against the Europa League winners. Karim Benzema and David Alaba got themselves on the scoresheet, as Madrid kicked off their season with silverware.

Following their success, Courtois took on media duties, and due to the global interest there were outlets from multiple destinations in attendance. And the Belgian stunned reporters as he gave four interviews back-to-back while speaking a different language each time.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were all kept at bay as Courtois pulled off one of the great goalkeeping performances, and the Belgian later fired a dig at the English media and demanded 'respect'. After the final, he said to BT Sport: "I saw a lot of tweets saying I would get humbled.

"It was the other way round. Today I needed to win a final – for my career, for all the hard work, to put respect on my name because I don’t think I have enough respect, especially England. I saw a lot of criticism that I was not good enough or whatever."

Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the game as Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in Paris, and Courtois' iconic performance has even placed him in the running for the Ballon d'Or award. However, team-mate Karim Benzema is the overwhelming favourite, with African player of the year Sadio Mane also competing.
