Thiago Silva’s angry wife demands "respect" from commentators for Chelsea star
Chelsea's Thiago Silva is one of the most formidable defenders in the Premier League so it's little surprise his wife Belle has developed a similar sort of reputation.
While Thiago's defending takes place on the pitch, Belle's battleground is social media, and boy is she one tough customer. The Brazilian mother of two has a habit of posting sassy videos online whenever she feels the need to defend her husband, and on Saturday she had the commentators during Chelsea's 4-1 defeat to Brentford in her crosshairs after hearing them criticise him for 'not attacking enough'.
"I'm here in my box at Stamford Bridge, I just listened to the commentators [saying] Thiago Silva is not attacking enough," a furious Belle said in a video on Instagram.
"Respect Thiago Silva because Thiago Silva arrived [in the UK] yesterday, Thiago Silva played for Brazil, Thiago Silva is very tired, Thiago Silva is 37-years-[old].
"Respect him, he's not a machine … alright? Thanks so much."
In response, one Chelsea fan tweeted: "Forget Marina Granovskaia, Belle Silva is the most formidable woman at Chelsea!"
Despite his wife's stern demands, Thiago Silva was one of a number of Chelsea players who came in for fierce criticism after the European champions were torn apart by their relegation-battling visitors yesterday. They initially took the lead courtesy of a 40-yard belter from Antonio Rudiger, but the Bees hit back almost immediately through Vitaly Janelt.
If Belle Silva, Colleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy faced each other in a triple-threat match, who would win? Let us know in the comments section.
A heart-warming moment – for the neutrals at least – came minutes later as Christian Eriksen poked home to put Brentford ahead, netting his first club goal since suffering a cardiac arrest during Denmark's opening match at Euro 2020 last summer.
Janelt then grabbed his second of the day before Yoane Wissa made it four with just a few minutes remaining, condemning the Blues to their heaviest defeat since losing 5-2 to West Brom almost exactly a year ago.
For for the first time in months, Thomas Tuchel's side will now be nervously peering over the shoulders, with a top four finish not quite as secure as it once seemed. Meanwhile, anyone who's ever crossed Belle Silva before is probably doing the same.
