Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has spoken out ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Omonia. The Red Devils beat the same opponents 3-2 last week in Cyprus courtesy of a brace from Marcus Rashford and goal from Anthony Martial. And they’ve also beaten Everton since, winning 2-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Manchester United go into Thursday night’s clash with Omonia with a mixed record in Europe so far this season.
They lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in their opening fixture of the campaign, with that game played on the night where news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing broke.
United then rallied to beat Sheriff 2-0 courtesy of goals from Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And, just last week, they got the better of Omonia 3-2 in Cyprus – with Rashford and Martial shining off the bench to ensure they pick up all three points.
Now, Ten Hag has spoken ahead of the reverse fixture at Old Trafford on Thursday.
And he’s confirmed Martial is still missing from training, having limped out of the game with Everton on Sunday.
Man Utd transfers: Plans for next three signings are damning on Solskjaer
“Not today [Martial training], we will see how it develops for Sunday,” said the 52-year-old.
“Harry [Maguire] is out. And longer-term Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.”
United are battling to win their Europa League group, though Sociedad have won all three of their fixtures in the tournament so far.
And Ten Hag has admitted it’s vital his side top the group to ensure they get a better draw in the next round.
“I told the players weeks ago, before the break, it was important to win the group,” said the Dutchman.
“We want to win all the games, but it’s clear, we want to avoid that [finishing second in group].”

Ten Hag also made it clear he believes in his squad, while suggesting he’ll be rotating with his squad with so many matches coming thick and fast.
“I think all the clubs have the same problem, the teams that play in Europe,” he said.
“We have a squad to cover that, injuries and suspensions will happen, but you have to deal with it as a squad.
“All out for the victory, first game is the most important, It’s Europe, it’s tough, we want to be No 1 in the group.
“All the players we have to manage their game time, that’s what I do all the time. that’s why we have a good with double positioning, with depth, so if we have to rotate, we can replace players.”
