Tallest and shortest Premier League squads list includes Top Four rivals

Everton have the tallest average height of any Premier League squad with 185.11cm, pushing Crystal Palace into second (184.32cm) and Tottenham into third (183.68cm).

At the other end of the table, Arsenal have the smallest average squad height with 181.12cm, with the tallest individual players being Dan Burn and Fraser Forster at 201cm.

The smallest players in the league are Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey and Newcastle midfielder Ryan Fraser – who both stand at 163cm.

The tallest potential Premier League XI made up of players from all teams would come to an average of 193.36cm – with the smallest being a possible 170.45cm.

The study, completed by bettingodds.com, uses analysis from all players who have featured in a 2022/23 Premier League matchday squad so far from Transfermarkt.

Making up the top ten are Newcastle (183.23cm), Fulham (182.96cm), Leicester (182.93cm), Bournemouth (182.92cm), West Ham (182.85cm), Aston Villa (182.62cm) and Brentford (=182.62cm).

With the second-half of the table, ahead of Arsenal, made up of Liverpool (182.56cm), Chelsea (182.23cm), Manchester United (182.00cm), Leeds (181.76cm), Southampton (181.39cm), Brighton (=181.39cm), Manchester City (181.28cm), and Wolves (181.24cm).

One benefit of having taller players is presumably from corners and wide free-kicks, with the numbers showing that the threat of the former is growing.

The Premier League reported in June that corner-kicks have produced between 9.8 per cent and 14.2 per cent of all goals since the rebrand of the league in 1992.

That figure reached it's second highest ever tally with 13.6 per cent during 2021/22, with 146 goals in total compared to 132 from the previous year.

Liverpool and Manchester City led the way with 15 goals each from corners – which may come as a surprise with City second bottom on the height charts this time out.

Arsenal were in fact third on that list with 13 – showing that the delivery might just be more important than the personnel.
