Sven Botman’s agent responds to done deal claims amid Liverpool transfer rumours
Sven Botman's agent has responded to claims that a done deal has been completed with his client as rumours circulating a move to Liverpool continue.
The Reds were desperate to snap up a defender in the January transfer window after a list of injuries.
Joel Matip has joined Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the sidelines until next season.
In the end, Ozan Kabak was signed from Schalke on loan while Ben Davies joined from Preston for a small fee.
Another name was strongly linked was Lille star Botman, who has impressed a number of scouts recently.
Reports in France emerged that the Ligue 1 club had agreed a deal with an unnamed side that would see the Dutchman leave in the summer.
With Liverpool the most interested, rumours circulated that it was Anfield that would be Botman's destination.
But his agent has rubbished those reports, insisting no such deal has been agreed.
Dutch publication Voetbalzone claims Nikkie Bruinenberg has branded them “fake news”.
Botman only signed for Lille last year from Ajax and has made an immediate impact, starring in central defence without making a single error leading to a chance.
Several clubs are reportedly interested in the 21-year-old, with Liverpool not the only side who have been linked.
Manchester United are another to have scouted the defender, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to strengthen his backline.
Meanwhile, Dimitar Berbatov recently urged United to sign Sergio Ramos, saying: "I have always said that United need another defender.
“But looking at the recent performances of Eric Bailly, if he stays focused and injury free then he can be a rock at the back of defence.
"But if United are going to buy someone, especially at this point in the season, them to be a perfect fit for the team. I don't think they need anyone at the moment.
"I have read the reports about Sergio Ramos and there is a lot of speculation about his future. He could bring a lot of experience and steel to any team.
"Although he is 34, he is still a top player and United could do a lot worse. If he is available I can see a lot of teams interested in signing him.”
