Surrey Police release statement as Raheem Sterling’s house burgled

Surrey Police have confirmed they are investigating the burglary that has forced Raheem Sterling to rush home from the World Cup. The England star was left out of the Three Lions’ victory over Senegal on Sunday over ‘family reasons’, with it later revealed that thieves had taken valuable items from his Leatherhead home. 

Sterling was allowed to leave England’s Qatar camp on Sunday morning after a report to the police was made about a buglarly the previous day. The Chelsea attacker has returned home to ensure his family are okay.

Police have confirmed that Sterling’s family discovered that expensive items were found missing after returning home. No violence occured. 

A statement from Surrey Police read: “We are currently investigating a report of a burglary at an address in Oxshott, Leatherhead. Police were contacted just before 3pm on Saturday December 3rd after the occupants of the property came home and discovered a number of items including jewellery and watches had been stolen.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances are underway and the investigation is ongoing. 

“No threat of violence was involved as the items were discovered stolen retrospectively. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
