Brendan Rodgers believes Leicester will carry the goodwill of the English football public into Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.
Just a month after the collapse of plans for a European Super League — originally endorsed by Chelsea — Leicester have an opportunity to land a blow for smaller clubs on Saturday.
‘It has been pretty clear, with the talk around the Super League, how the super clubs have been defined,’ said Rodgers.

‘But we would love to continue growing to be that people’s club as such — the club that supporters around the country look at and hope that their own club can do a Leicester in challenging the elite of the game.’
Leicester and Chelsea meet in two huge games over the next four days. On Tuesday they play at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League — a match that could go a long way to settling the top four.
Asked if he felt the public’s support, Rodgers said: ‘I think it gives a notion to the regular supporter — who is in love with football but not so much with the business of it — that Leicester can be the signpost for every team.

‘This is what can happen, both economically and from a performance perspective.
‘This story here since winning the league title has been one that has gone round the world. We have tried to build our own map and make the club sustainable.
‘I sense there is a lot of goodwill for a club like us. We are the pioneers for clubs outside the top six, as such.’
