Kemar Roofe’s hat-trick and stunning Joe Aribo strike proved to be the difference as Rangers kept the pressure on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic, following a crucial 4-0 victory against St Mirren on Sunday afternoon.

Roofe opened the scoring for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side heading home past goalkeeper Dean Lyness, following a pin-point cross from Ryan Kent inside the first two minutes.

The 29-year-old then doubled Rangers’ advantage on the stroke of half-time, after captain James Tavernier picked out the Walsall-born forward.

Roofe was in on the act once again securing his hat-trick, after firing low past Lyness in what was a comfortable victory for his side.

Joe Aribo finished the job with 14 minutes remaining, after firing a stunning left-foot curler in to the top corner from outside the area.

Van Bronckhorst’s men move on to 76 points following win in Paisley, but they remain six points behind arch-rivals Celtic having both played 33 games, with five matches left to play.
