Spurs looking to secure summer transfer despite being unable to find manager

Tottenham Hotspurs are looking to secure their first signing of the summer – Bologna's Japanese star Takehiro Tomiyasu – despite still not having a manager.

Spurs' hot seat has remained vacant since Daniel Levy axed Jose Mourinho last April, the week of the Carabao Cup final, and he has since failed in the pursuit of other managers.

Discussions with Gennaro Gattuso, Julen Lopetegui, and Erik ten Hag have all fallen by the wayside.

However, Spurs' lack of a frontman doesn't appear to have stopped them in the transfer market, and they are looking to finalise their first signing of the summer.

Tomiyasu, 22, is highly rated in the Serie A, and he has been a first-team regular at Bologna since 2019.

And, Spurs are hoping that £15million will be enough to tempt Bologna to part ways with the Japanese international.

However, Tomiyasu has been selected for the Japanese Olympic squad for the Tokyo Games, and that could rule him out of Spurs' opening clashes at the start of the season.

If Tomiyasu arrives, Spurs could axe Joe Rondon – on loan – and Matt Doherty could be shown the door permanently.

Tottenham are set for a busy summer – outside of their managerial troubles – with their star-striker, Harry Kane, embroiled in a transfer saga with Manchester City.

Spurs have also been linked with Ajax's wonderkid Ryan Gravenbatch – who is currently impressing at Euro 2020 – and Borussia Monchengladbach's Marcus Thuram.
