Spurs 'have £12million bid for Leandro Trossard REJECTED'
Spurs ‘had a £12m bid for Leandro Trossard REJECTED’ in failed swoop for the frozen out star… with Brighton boss Robert Di Zerbi and the Belgian playmaker ‘no longer on speaking terms’ following his dispute with another player
- Wantaway Leandro Trossard has not played in 2023 for Roberto De Zerbi
- The manager has criticised the player’s attitude since returning from World Cup
- Spurs and Chelsea are said to be interested in the talented Belgian winger
- But it’s unclear whether a move will materialise for him in the January window
Brighton have reportedly rejected an offer of around £12million for Leandro Trossard from Spurs, with the wantaway star not on speaking terms with manager Roberto De Zerbi, according to his agent.
Trossard and De Zerbi have had a public falling out of late, with the manager criticising the player’s attitude and work rate since his return from the World Cup with Belgium.
With Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair saying his client wants to leave the club, Spurs have made a verbal offer according to The Athletic, though their proposed fee of £12million is deemed far below Brighton’s valuation of the player.
Leandro Trossard’s future at Brighton is in limbo after a falling out with Roberto De Zerbi
Chelsea have also shown interest in signing the winger, who has seven goals in 16 league appearances this season.
Trossard, who is believed to be back in his native Belgium, has not appeared for the club in 2023, and was not involved in his team’s 3-0 win over Liverpool after he left training prematurely without De Zerbi’s permission.
In a statement released last week, Comhair detailed just how frosty things have gotten between the two parties.
‘After the World Cup, there was an altercation between Leandro and a player in training over a trivial matter,’ Comhair said.
Roberto De Zerbi has Brighton playing brilliantly and they easily beat Liverpool at the weekend
‘Since then, the manager no longer speaks to Leandro, which is obviously not conducive to the atmosphere, nor is it performance-oriented.
‘Last Monday, the manager humiliated Leandro in group and indicated that he no longer wanted to see him.
‘A manager who has not communicated directly with his player for four weeks is really incomprehensible. Incidentally, it is also the manager who has indicated several times that a transfer is the most convenient solution.’
While De Zerbi’s time at Brighton looks numbered, it’s unclear if he’ll be able to secure a switch away from the Amex in the January window.
De Zerbi and Trossard have evidently not seen eye to eye since the Italian coach took over
If that doesn’t materialise, De Zerbi has indicated he would welcome the player back.
‘I’m fine with myself and I’m ready to open the doors for him, because he’s a good guy and a very important player for us,’ he said.
‘He changes the team, but he has to understand and to work with my attitude, in my way, because I am the coach, I decide the rules inside the dressing room, only this.’
