Returning Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon has been left bleeding after being clattered by his team-mate Cristian Romero in pre-season training.

Reguilon had to combat serious injuries that required surgery last year and spent the majority of the season on loan at Atletico Madrid, but has returned to London as newly-appointed boss Ange Postecoglou met his players for the first time.

Spurs like all other Premier League sides have begun warming up for the new season and Reguilon will be hoping to finally deliver on the potential that surrounded his £30million arrival three years ago.

The Spaniard has revealed Spurs stars are showing no signs of easing back into things as he showed off a nasty wound caused by Argentine, Romero.

Posting on his Instagram story, Reguilon first showed off what looks like a deep cut on his shin with blood trickling down his left-leg and staining his white socks.

He then pans the camera up away from the gash and follows Romero into the dressing room which is also occupied by other first-team players.

The 26-year-old full-back attempts to get his team-mates attention before the pair eventually converse in Spanish with Romero turning back and nodding at the camera before walking off.

He also captioned his post with the statement: ‘Cuti is back’ alongside a skull emoji.

The light-hearted interaction shows that there is no ill feeling between the two Tottenham stars, however, there will be some concern given Reguilon’s recent injury crisis.

His last permanent Instagram post published in December showed the Spaniard lying in a hospital bed and crying after a recent operation.

Writing at the time, Reguilon said: ‘The worst year of my life is over. A year of lots of pain, suffering, injections, operations, surgeries.

‘Eight months I haven’t been able to do what my life is and wondering every day when I could be a football player again.

‘I am convinced that all the bad times and everything I have suffered has made me stronger and it will be good for me in the future, both for football and for life.’

Romero has earned a reputation for being a hard-hitting tackler and was shown two red cards last season as he was sent off against both AC Milan and Manchester City.
