Spurs boss Postecoglou ‘unimpressed with Ndombele’s attitude and timekeeping’
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been left unimpressed by the attitude and timekeeping of Tanguy Ndombele, according to reports. It is claimed the midfielder has blown another chance to reignite his career in north London.
Ndombele was Tottenham’s record signing when he joined from Lyon in the summer of 2019. The Frenchman signed for an initial fee of £55million after shining in Ligue 1 and making his senior international debut at the age of 21.
However, he has not been able to live up to his billing. Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho publicly called Ndombele out in March 2020 after substituting him during a 1-1 draw at Burnley.
He was reintegrated back into the Spurs side and featured 46 times in all competitions during the 2020/21 season. However, he was unable to impress Antonio Conte and was sent back to Lyon on loan in January 2022.
Ndombele spent all of last season on loan at Napoli, making just eight Serie A starts as the Italian club won the top flight for the first time in 33 years. He is back at Spurs and was given the chance to impress in pre-season by Postecoglou.

But football.london claims he has failed to do so. The report says Postecoglou is not happy with the player’s attitude, application and timekeeping.
He didn’t feature in any of Spurs’ friendlies before the start of the new campaign. Ndombele was not in the squad for Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Brentford in the Premier League opener.
Spurs’ final friendly was at Barcelona last Tuesday. Postecoglou admitted at the time that Ndombele’s fitness levels were not where they needed to be in order to be ready to play.
He said: “A little bit physically behind the rest as well you know. The way we play there’s a bit that I need to be strong on and that is that you’ve got to be at a certain physical level to play this kind of football.
“If you’re not it does no justice to the player themselves, but there’s no doubt that we’ve got a big squad at the moment and there will be outgoing and those decisions are going to be made by the club and the players themselves.”

Tottenham’s new all-white kit doesn’t deviate from the traditional Spurs style. The fresh look for the 2023/2024 season features navy cuffs and a pattern that runs throughout the kit that is said to be inspired by the music scene and eclectic streetwear of the Tottenham
It is a sad situation for Ndombele, who only weeks previously was given an olive branch by Postecoglou. The Australian said in July: “Tanguy has been good. He’s been working hard in training, as they all have because they’ve got no choice!
“I take things as I see them. He was part of a Serie A-winning side last season, and he’s been working well.
“Within that context, I’m pleased to have him here and part of the group. What that means for the long-term, we’ll see. Who knows, maybe he won’t want to be part of things.”
Ndombele has entered the final two years of his contract at Tottenham. There is reported interest from Turkey in acquiring his signature before the end of the summer window.
