Sporting vs Tottenham early team news
The hosts are still without a number of potential starters, with Jeremiah St Juste and Goncalo Inacio both possibly missing – the latter has the better chance to feature.
Jovane Cabral is out but Paulinho is back in contention to feature and Luis Neto is facing a race against time to be fit.
For Spurs, the only likely absentee is Lucas Moura, so an unchanged line-up could be named by Antonio Conte. That means Dejan Kulusevski sitting out again, along with Yves Bissouma and Ben Davies.
Sporting vs Tottenham
Hello and welcome to The Independent’s coverage of Tuesday’s Champions League action as Tottenham travel to Lisbon to take on Sporting CP.
Antonio Conte’s men kicked off their campaign in Europe’s top competition with a 2-0 victory over Marseille that saw Richarlison net his first Champions League goals for the club. Conte will be hoping to continue that form tonight as Spurs face the Portuguese side that tops Group D.
They defeated the Europa League champions, Eintracht Frankfurt, their opening fixture but come into the match in indfifferent form. They’ve won their lost three fixtures across all competitions but earned consecutive defeats just beforehand. What is guaranteed is that Sporting will try to score goals, they’ll take the attack to Tottenham which could allow Spurs plenty of opportunities on the counter-attack.
Antonio Conte now faces decisions over personnel. Lucas Moura is the only absentee but there is a decision to be made about who starts over Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison. Richarlison’s growing confidence could give him the edge but Kulusevski is a pacey winger and could provide a better option out wide.
Kick off for this one is at 5.45pm with the team news expected around an hour beforehand.
