Specialist helped sleepless West Ham star who listened to scary true crime tales
A specialist had to help a sleepless West Ham United star who listened to horrifying true crime tales before bed.
Sleep expert James Wilson, who is also known as "The Sleep Geek", has worked with both the men's and women's teams at West Ham recently to improve their night's rest. He has revealed, though, that one Hammers player was too scared to sleep after listening to true crime podcasts before settling down for the night.
Although he did not disclose the player's identity, Wilson told BBC Breakfast on Thursday: "I work with both the men's and women's team. It depends on the individual. Some players do listen to things before bed. And we've had to reassess some things at times.

"One player was listening to true crime podcasts before bed and wondering why he was struggling to get to sleep. It is about the individual. Some of them might find it useful. Some of them might be a little bit annoyed and wake them up."
Wilson has also developed the "Kip Mate" toolbox as part of his work improving people's sleep. The service is described on it's website as "a sleep toolbox that improves the sleep health of individuals, organisations and sports teams in a way that is affordable, simple to apply and extremely effective".

The online description continues: “With Kip Mate you will finally understand who you are as a sleeper, pinpoint what it is that is causing your issues and get targeted tools and content that give you a quick and easy way to sort your sleep.
"No long-winded questionnaires, no excruciatingly patronising content and real people who care about your sleep.”
It remains unclear whether enlisting the help of "The Sleep Geek" will turn West Ham's season around, with David Moyes currently under pressure at the London Stadium.
The Hammers slipped into the relegation zone following last weekend's loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers and are only off the foot of the table on goal difference.
Moyes' side will look to end a run of one win in 10 league matches on Saturday when they welcome fellow strugglers Everton to east London.
