Spanish FA president Rubiales to face FIFA disciplinary investigation

Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales will face FIFA disciplinary investigation as they open proceedings against him over World Cup kiss-gate… and allies for key meeting tomorrow desert him

FIFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales. 

Football’s international governing body confirmed that is has opened the proceedings based on his on the day of the Women’s World Cup final last Sunday. 

Rubiales kissed Spanish player Jenni Hermoso on the mouth after the nation’s 1-0 victory over England and also appeared to touch his nether regions around Spain’s queen and her daughter. 

FIFA stated that the events ‘may constitute violations of article 13 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.’

Paragraph one refers to ‘infringements of the laws of the game’, while paragraph two pertains to ‘disorderliness at matches and competitions’.

Rubiales is already losing support from within Spanish football circles. 

The Basque Football Federation confirmed they would not be attending the Spanish Football Federation assembly on Friday, despite being expected to show their support for him, as reported by AS.
