Southampton troll Everton fans with brutal TripAdvisor review as prank backfires

Southampton have savagely trolled relegation rivals Everton after Toffees fans' firework prank brutally backfires.

The Saints took to Twitter to share a hilarious TripAdvisor review from a fan following their 2-1 win away at Goodison Park on Saturday. The south coast side, who are currently bottom of the Premier League on goal difference, went 1-0 down after Onana put the home side ahead.

The away side came out with all cylinders firing in the second half, with James Ward-Prowse scoring an equaliser before he put his team ahead with a free-kick from the edge of the box. Southampton managed to hang on for all three points, with a prank, thought to be from Everton fans, backfiring massively.

Ahead of the match, fireworks were set off at a Liverpool hotel where Southampton players are thought to have been staying in the early hours of Saturday, although this had little effect on the result. One Southampton fan was keen to mention this when leaving a review for the hotel.

Not only did it get traction on social media, but Southampton's official Twitter account thought it would be even better to share it. The mock review said: "We can't say enough positive things about the Inside By Melia Liverpool! Had an important business trip to attend in the city and they were the perfect hosts.

"The hotel ensured we were looked after and well-rested for our meeting, which was an extremely productive one. Rooms were brilliant, beds were incredibly comfy, and the blackout blinds and triple glazing… oh wow!

"You could literally have a firework display going on outside your window and you'd never know it. Best night's sleep we've ever had!

"In fact, the only rocket we noticed all weekend was the one James Ward-Prowse sent into the net in the 78th minute at Goodison. Will definitely be returning again."
