Son Heung-min urged to swap Spurs for Man Utd despite Cristiano Ronaldo ‘issue’

Manchester United hero Park Ji-Sung has urged compatriot and Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min to seek a transfer to Old Trafford.

Son has become one of the standout players in the Premier League since his arrival in north London in 2015 and has netted 76 goals in 210 appearances.

His dribbling prowess and excellent finishing alongside Harry Kane have resulted in one of Spurs’ most successful eras in recent times, having reached the Champions League final in 2019.

And now Son has been advised by former Red Devils midfielder and fellow South Korean Park to leave Tottenham by claiming that the 29-year-old would “do very well” at United.

Speaking to Goal, Park said: "He has already proved himself in the Premier League and I believe he’s good enough to do very well at United.

"The only minor issue would be he may not get his favourite No.7 shirt as Ronaldo is already there!

"But if I had to pick someone other than Son, I would say either Hwang Hee-chan from Wolves or Mallorca's Lee Kang-in, who both have good potential as players."

Son’s preference for the No.7 shirt is arguably less of a problem than the sheer number of forwards that Ralf Rangnick already has at his disposal.

Along with Ronaldo, United currently have Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and £73million summer signing Jadon Sancho occupying the same position as Son.

They would need to sell at least two of those in order to justify bringing in the South Korea captain.

Son already has seven goals to his name this campaign as Spurs look to make amends for their poor start to the season.

With Antonio Conte now steering the ship, Spurs need just one win in their game in hand to rise to fourth in the league.
