Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should remain as Manchester United manager and deserves a pay rise, according to some cheeky analysis from Liam Gallagher.

The Oasis legend was up to his usual social media antics following United's 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool.

Solskjaer's position is in more doubt than ever after his self-proclaimed "darkest day" as Red Devils boss.

And staunch Man City fan Gallagher couldn't resist making a dig at his club's rivals with a sarcastic quip.

He tweeted on Monday morning: "Good morning beautiful people how the f*** are we today what a wknd as a wise man once said it doesn’t matter if your out of tune coz your cool MCFC CHAMPIONS LG x."

In response a fan attempted to crack a joke using one of Oasis' hit songs, saying: "Liam don’t you think Ole should stay forever?"

Gallagher came back to question with a sarcastic line of: "I don’t like it when managers get the sack so no I think he needs a pay rise."

And the singer managed to get in more remarks about United's struggles when interacting with his followers.

One asked him for recommendations of what to do in Manchester.

He replied: "Well don’t go to Old Trafford as there’s zero vibes round there at the mo stay in the city."

Another asked if he'd given any stick to United fan and fellow musician Paul Arthurs, also known as Bonehead.

"He’s like all Utd fans hibernating you won’t hear from any of them for a while," Gallagher said.

After the defeat Solskjaer claimed he had made too much progression to part ways with United now.

He said: "I have come too far, we have come too far as a group. We are too close to give up now.

"It is going to be a difficult one. The players will be low but there's loads of characters there.

"We know we are rock bottom, we can't feel any worse than this. Let's see where we take it."
