Solskjaer makes "worried" admission as he focuses on Man Utd’s No.1 concern

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he is “worried” by Manchester United’s goal drought.

Misfiring United drew another blank, their third goalless draw in a row and have now gone nearly five hours without a goal after a dismal draw at Selhurst Park.

It leaves United 14 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City ahead of this Sunday’s derby at the Etihad.

United boss Solskjaer said: “Of course it's a concern.

"When you have three clean sheets in a row, that will help you win games but we haven't produced the quality.

"We just have to find a spark again, the quality again and try and wins the games.

“Of course we're not happy if you don't create chances, don't score goals and it's been a week without goals.

"It's a bit of a worry, of course it is, but I know the boys have given everything. With their quality, I know we can get back to where we want to be.”

Solskjaer’s men looked jaded and tired and the manager admitted his No.1 concern is now finishing in the top four ahead of the derby as he was unhappy with other elements of his team’s display.

"We go into every game thinking we need to win and we want to win,” said Solskjaer. “We just have to concentrate on ourselves. We know we're in a fight to be top four, so every game is important.

"It's not good as you know if you want to move up the table, you need to win. You have to earn the right, you have to win tackles, you have to fight you have to play passes better we kept giving the ball away.

"The tempo was missing, once in a while it happens. It wasn't one of our best nights that's for sure.”

Solskjaer also admitted he is reluctant to release Bruno Fernandes for Portugal’s World Cup qualifiers later this month with the country on the red list of coronavirus nations.

Solskjaer added: ”We haven't made a decision on Bruno but it doesn't make sense if we're paying the player's wages.

"I want Bruno ready after that break, of course I do.”

Palace boss Roy Hodgson said: “When you get a result against United, even if it’s a draw rather than a win, it should be a cause for celebration and I’m very proud of the players.

“It was a good performance, they fought hard, we had chances as well.

"We’ve got some difficult games ahead but people should not forget that we are one of those teams in this division who, at the end of the season, are still very happy to be in the Premier League.”
