Soccer AM teaser from 25 years ago has fans yearning for shows heyday

A resurfaced promo for the return of Soccer AM 25 years ago has football fans pinning for the glory days of the show.

Fans were dealt a healthy dose of nostalgia as the throwback video showed Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamberlain presenting the show. The pair were at the helm of the show from 1996 to 2007 – when fans agree the show was at its best.

Lovejoy left the show in 2007, while Chamberlain continued for another decade until 2017. But fans couldn't get enough of the resurfaced promo, and are yearning for the glory days to return.

One tweeted: "Became instantly s*** when Lovejoy left, brilliant in its heyday!"

"I never got why when we were in Lockdown they didn't just reruns of the old show rather have Fenner and Bullard talking over zoom for an hour and a half," a second questioned. And a third added: "It died when Lovejoy left."

However, a fourth added: "People moan about it now but it’s 90 mins now and pretty decent. Think it’s decent and Fenners is class. Just cool to moan these days. Better than Saturday kitchen and the other tripe on."
