Sneaky Wrexham fans flogging shirts for £500 on eBay after promotion is secured

Savvy supporters are cashing in on Wrexham’s promotion to League Two by flogging shirts on eBay for up to 13 times the price.

The club – owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – secured promotion from the National League last Saturday (22 April).

The Wrexham club shop has sold out of home, away and goalie shirts, plus training gear due to a surge in demand. Shrewd football fans from across the country who managed to get their hands on one are selling them at inflated prices on the auction website.

One Wrexham 2022/23 season blue away shirt – with the TikTok and Expedia sponsors – is on for £500. It is still in the packaging and the small size jersey cost £37.50. The eBay price is 13 times the original cost at the club shop.

The seller, from Washington, Tyne and Wear is offering a finance deal of 24 monthly payments of £23.59 – taking the total cost to £566.16.

A red XXL home shirt with striker Paul Mullin’s ‘Mullin 10’ printed on the back is currently selling for over £185. It was put on for £80 and already has plenty of bids.

The seller, of Wrexham said it is “brand new, with tags” and it is “rare.” It would have cost just £44.95 brand new.

Some fans are including ‘Ryan Reynolds’ in their listing to increase bids. One supporter from Colchester, Essex is selling a small away shirt for £150 – four times the price. It is listed as ‘Wrexham AFC 2022/23 Away Shirt S BNWT Ryan Reynolds Football Shirt Brand New’

Another from Wilthsire is flogging the same thing for £130 – three-and-a-half times the original price. It reads: “Wrexham AFC Away Football Shirt 2022/23 Small BNWT Ryan Reynolds League Winners.”

Another fan from Wrexham is flogging a medium home shirt for £100 – still just over two-and-a-half times the cost at the sob. They described it as a “Champions winning shirt.”

The Wrexham website reads ‘Sold out’ on all its kits – even the kids sizes. When you try and place an order it reads ‘Out of stock’.
