Sky Sports reporter left fuming as he’s ‘manhandled’ chasing Erik ten Hag

A Sky Sports reporter threw a tantrum while claiming to be “manhandled” by Erik ten Hag’s security.

Incoming Manchester United manager Ten Hag was in attendance at Selhurst Park on Sunday to watch his new club face Crystal Palace. The Dutchman witnessed his team lose 1-0 to Palace, though they still secured a Europa League spot for next season.

And it appeared the 52-year-old was not in the best of moods as he refused to speak to Sky’s Gary Cotterill, who caught him on his way out. Ten Hag’s security then got in the way of the reporter while he complained about being “manhandled”.

Cotterill initially asked a serious-looking Ten Hag: “Are you excited to get started? You must be wanting to get stuck in straight away.”

A security guard then brushed past the journalist while appearing to hold his arm until Ten Hag entered a car, leaving Cotterill fuming.

He could be heard saying: “Don’t push me, you’re on television. It doesn’t look good being manhandled by security Erik, Man United are a big club.”

Fans on social media saw the funny side of the altercation, taking the opportunity to poke fun at United’s lacklustre performances throughout the season.

One Twitter user commented on the security guard: “[He] showed good upper body strength to protect Ten Hag. Can he play CB? How’s his heading?"

Another chimed in with: “Best defending a Utd employee has done all season.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has set a date for pre-season training ahead of the highly-anticipated 2022/23 season. He revealed on Monday that players not involved in the upcoming international fixtures are due back for United training on June 27.
