Six Premier League stars up for Golden Boy award including Arsenal duo and Man Utd ace
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood are among six Premier League stars who have been nominated for the Golden Boy award. The duo are part of a long list of 40 nominees for the award which contains some of the best young talents in European football.
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland was awarded the prestigious accolade last year after a sublime first season in Germany, which saw him score 41 goals in 41 games.
Saka has made his way onto the list after an impressive season at Arsenal in the previous campaign under Mikel Arteta which saw him named in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.
The 20-year-old went on to become one of the stars of the tournament after being given his first chance to impress the England boss in the final group game against Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, Greenwood has also exceeded expectations in the past 12 months and has already got off to a flying start this season.

The United ace has scored three times in four Premier League games, including the winner against Wolves before the international break.
The remaining four Premier League names to make the list are Tottenham’s Bryan Gil, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, Leicester defender Luke Thomas and Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Barcelona star Pedri – who featured for Spain at Euro 2020 and Tokyo 2020 – is heavily being tipped as the favourite for the award.
However, unlike the previous year, there is no clear and obvious winner.

Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham has also been nominated after continuing to prove why he is one of the brightest talents in European football.
The 18-year-old proved that once again after his fantastic display for Dortmund against Besiktas in the Champions League on Wednesday which saw him named as man of the match after scoring a goal and an assist.
Bellingham’s goal also meant he became the youngest player to score in back-to-back Champions League appearances, surpassing the previous record set by PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.
Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala is another hotly tipped contender after breaking into the first-team setup under Julian Nagelsmann.
New Real Madrid signing Eduardo Camavinga also features on the list of nominees after shining for Rennes in Ligue 1.
The 18-year-old left the French outfit to join Los Blancos on deadline day on a six-year deal in a move worth a reported £34.4million.
After starting out with 100 nominees, the list will soon be cut to the final 20 names before a winner is announced.
The award, which began in 2003, is voted for by sports journalists and is given to the best young player under the age of 21 playing in Europe.
