Sir Alex Ferguson’s view on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer progress as Man Utd boss

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following one of his managerial traits.

The Scot has continued to play a big role at Old Trafford since his retirement from managing in 2013, having won 28 major honours over 26 years.

He has been succeeded by four different managers, with the current boss the one who lasted longest.

Having taken over from Jose Mourinho in December 2018 before becoming permanent boss four months later, he has guided them to second in the Premier League and the Europa League final.

And Sir Alex, who coached the Norwegian during his playing days for 11 seasons until retirement in 2007, has admired one method in Solskjaer’s management since his arrival.

Speaking to BBC ahead of the launch of Amazon documentary ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In’, the 79-year-old said: "If you don't get results there's questions to be asked. He is getting the results, he really has done very well.

“And what is really important for this club is to introduce young people, and he's given young players a chance.

"That will always be the foundation of Manchester United, from Matt Busby, from Alex Ferguson and to what Ole is doing, the young guys, if they are good enough, play them.

“Never a problem at this club."

And Sir Alex also revealed a trait Solskjaer showed during his playing days which hinted at success as a manager.

The United hero added: “Even as a young reserve, even when he was on the bench… he would take notes of the training sessions.

“He had a will that he wanted to be a manager, and at a club like Manchester United, it's a result industry, without question.”
