Sir Alex Ferguson’s reaction to Ronaldo scoring for Man Utd caught on camera
Sir Alex Ferguson's reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo's goal on his second debut for Manchester United was caught on camera.
The Scotsman brought Ronaldo to the Red Devils in 2003 after the teenager impressed in a friendly against Ferguson's United.
And Ferguson's wide smile was captured on camera after Ronaldo turned the ball home to give United the lead just before half-time.
Ronaldo was then on the scoresheet again, after Javier Manquillo had fired Newcastle level, to secure a brace for the afternoon.
Ferguson had been involved in bringing Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, and Sir Alex had called his former player to convince him to return.
Ferguson recently broke his silence about Ronaldo's return: "I’m excited like everyone else, there was anticipation all day yesterday and waking up in the morning. I speak for all supporters it’s a great day for Man Utd.
"A lot of people played their part [in bringing Ronaldo back] and I contributed knowing that really Cristiano wanted to come here and that was important," he told Danish streaming service Viaplay.
"It worked very well.
"I wouldn’t say it’s emotional but it’s exciting for me and relief because I couldn’t imagine him playing for Man City, I don’t think anyone could.
"That’s why we took steps to make sure he came here and the club then followed in very well and I spoke to the Glazers and it was done."
