Sir Alex Ferguson holds chat with Man Utd stars before Europa League final
Sir Alex Ferguson was on hand to offer Manchester United stars some last-minute inspiration ahead of their Europa League final against Villarreal on Wednesday night.
United are gearing up for their showdown with the Spanish club in Gdansk, which could see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lift his first trophy as Red Devils manager.
Ferguson has travelled with Solskjaer and his squad to Poland, and while Manchester Evening News reported that he won't address the team directly, the legendary United gaffer has been available to them for advice throughout the week.
And just hours before kick-off at the PGE Arena, some of United's key stars sat down to chat with Fergie.
Nemanja Matic posted a photo on Instagram which shows him, Edinson Cavani, Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata sitting with Ferguson ahead of the final and wrote: "We are ready to give everything tonight! Thanks to Sir Alex for his advice and support".
Solskjaer enjoyed great success under Ferguson as a player and will now hope to land his first piece of silverware as United boss on Wednesday night.
The Norwegian has waxed lyrical about his old gaffer and mentor being out in Gdansk with the squad this week, saying: “Just to have him around when we eat, in the restaurant, if the players’ wonder about something they can ask him and he’s always available for a chat because he has this club in his heart.
"I hope he enjoys it tomorrow because I owe most of my career to him, so hopefully he will enjoy it."
One concern for Solskjaer heading into the final is the fitness of captain Harry Maguire, who damaged ankle ligaments in their Premier League win away at Aston Villa earlier this month.

The England defender has travelled to Poland with the squad after ditching his protective boot and crutches last week, but it remains to be seen whether Solskjaer gambles on his fitness for their biggest outing of the season.
