Sir Alex Ferguson agrees with Mikel Arteta about "phenomenal" Arsenal star
Kieran Tierney has caught the eye at Arsenal in recent weeks.
The Scottish full-back has drawn praise for his recent form at left-back, helping Mikel Arteta's side get back on track after a poor run of form.
Tierney's absence with a minor injury against Crystal Palace in midweek served only to highlight his influence on the Gunners.
And his recent displays have drawn admiration from former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson was asked about his national team, Scotland, during a Lockdown Theatre Live show and singled out the Arsenal ace as well as Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson.
“I do think Scotland have some very good midfield players, and I’m not sure how they’re gonna play Robertson and Tierney in the same team.
"I know there were some situations where they played Tierney as the third centre-back, but the form of Tierney since he’s gone to Arsenal has been phenomenal.
"Robertson’s career at Liverpool has just got bigger and bigger.”
Ferguson's assessment of "phenomenal" Tierney shows he is in agreement with Arteta over his talents.
Whilst sweating over Tierney's fitness in midweek, Arteta said: “Kieran’s progression in the last few months has been incredible."
The Spaniard recently hailed him as a potential future captain of his side.
“Since the moment I joined the club I have seen a player with enormous talent with the perfect attitude and commitment," said Arteta.
“He is a joy to work with and I am so happy for him for the way he scored [against West Brom] and everything he has put in to be better every day towards the team, towards the club.
“He has had some issues to adapt. We tried to help him. It was a challenge for him to leave his house as we all tried to help him.
“He is shy and so humble. He came here and it took him a while. He had a really bad injury and was away from home but he is a natural leader.
“You see how he behaves on the pitch and when he talks he says the right thing. And he is exactly what we are looking for and I am so happy to have him in the team.
“He can still improve but he is a real threat in attack and really solid in defence.”
