Simon Thomas has won the race to succeed Jeff Stelling as Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday host.
At the end of last season, Stelling left the Soccer Saturday hosting chair following 25-years in the job, opening up for a new presenter to take up the mantle.
According to Mail Sport, Thomas will be unveiled as the new host of the flagship football programme by Sky next week. They did approach the broadcasters who declined to comment.
The ex-Blue Peter host had been competing with fellow Sky Sports presenters Caroline Barker and Jules Warren but looks to have beaten off competition from both to land the role.

Prior to joining Sky, Thomas spent six years presenting Blue Peter between 1999 and 2005. He joined Sky Sports in June 2005, fronting coverage for Sky Sports News.
However, back in 2017, Thomas took the decision to step away from covering the Premier League for Sky after the tragic death of his wife Gemma Thomas.
