Simon Jordan is called out over Chris Wilder LIE

‘How can this guy continue to go on the radio and LIE’: Simon Jordan is called out by Chris Wilder’s representative after claiming that the Middlesbrough boss had accepted an invitation from Burnley directors to watch a game while Sean Dyche was still boss

  • Simon Jordan claimed on Talksport that Chris Wilder had been a guest at Burnley
  • He suggested he had accepted an invitation, without Sean Dyche’s knowledge
  • However, representatives of the Middlesbrough boss insisted this was not true

Simon Jordan has been labelled a liar over his accusations that Chris Wilder accepted an invitation to watch Burnley from the club’s directors’ box while Sean Dyche was still in charge.

Sean Dyche was sacked by Burnley on Friday after nine-and-a-half years in charge at Turf Moor, bringing to an end the longest current managerial reign in the top-flight.

Wilder had been installed as one of the favourites to replace him, and the current Middlesbrough boss has so far failed to distance himself from links with the job.

Jordan claimed that Chris Wilder attended a game at Turf Moor without telling Sean Dyche

New Era director Jake Mallen insisted that there was no truth in Jordan’s claim on Talksport

That prompted former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan to attack the former Sheffield United boss on air, suggesting he had attended games in the directors’ box at Turf Moor without the then manager’s knowledge.

‘When you rock up at the directors’ box at Burnley, and you’re invited by the directors, and you don’t tell the manager of Burnley you’re going there, I think there’s an element of etiquette between managers that might [have led to] him and Sean not being the greatest of mates,’ Jordan said on Talksport.

‘I understand he’s been to Burnley recently, sat in the directors’ box and watched a game and I’m not entirely sure Sean Dyche was told about that.’

However, This claim was refuted by Jake Mallen, the director of New Era – the sports agency who represent Chris Wilder.

Responding to the video, Mallen tweeted: ‘How can this guy continue to go on the radio and LIE…. Absolute no truth in this story whatsoever!’

Dyche was sacked as manager of Burnley on Friday after nine and a half years in charge

Burnley drew 1-1 with West Ham at the weekend, with Under 23s boss Michael Jackson currently taking charge of first team affairs.

It is understood that the Premier League strugglers want to appoint an interim head coach until the end of the season, before using the summer to appoint a long-term successor to Dyche.

Meanwhile, Wilder has seen his Middlesbrough side stall in their bid to reach the Championship play-offs.

They currently sit three points behind his former club Sheffield United, who occupy the final play-off spot in sixth, however Boro have picked up just one point from the last 12 available. They do have a game in hand over the Blades.
