Sheikh Jassim’s Kylian Mbappe ‘dream’ to go up in flames due to Man Utd delays
Man Utd name price for Sancho and 12 others ahead of summer clearout
Manchester United takeover hopeful Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani could see his dream transfer go up in smoke. With the Glazers delaying the selection of their preferred bidder, a fast-moving saga involving Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe is set to pass the Red Devils by.
Mbappe is reportedly one of Sheikh Jassim’s dream recruits if he gets the nod to take the reins at Old Trafford. The Frenchman could be available this summer, too, after angering PSG bosses by announcing his desire to run down the final year of his contract.
But with the Glazers still at the helm and Sheikh Jassim patiently waiting to discover whether he has pipped fellow bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe to the post, Mbappe’s future risks being resolved before United have even entered the equation.
According to Le Parisien, PSG want a speedy response from the forward as to whether he will extend his contract at the Parc des Princes or leave the club this summer.

Signing a new deal would effectively take Mbappe off the market, while deciding to leave the club in the near future is sure to see rival suitors swoop in before United are in a position to make a move of their own.
If the 24-year-old snubs a new deal at PSG, Real Madrid will be at the front of the queue after years of interest, and they could have a clear run with Sheikh Jassim still weeks away from being able to pull the strings, providing his bid is successful.

If the prominent Qatari banker defied the odds, Mbappe would instantly become one of the biggest names in the Premier League, having starred for PSG and France in recent years. The striker scored 41 goals in all competitions last campaign and was recently made captain at international level, having scored a sublime hat-trick in last year’s World Cup final.
He addressed his predicament before France played Gibraltar earlier this month, after publishing an open letter to PSG fans announcing that he would not be extending his contract beyond 2024.
“I didn’t think a letter would kill someone or offend anyone,” he told reporters. “We can’t control people’s reactions, but I don’t care. Staying at PSG is my only option for now.
“There are many things in life that we don’t understand. The general public is not aware of the ins and outs of the situation. I know why I say what I say and do what I do.”
