Sheikh Jassim wants Solskjaer return as Glazers perform Man Utd takeover U-turn

Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea move

The Manchester United takeover process has entered another week with the Glazer family seemingly no closer to striking an agreement with one of the main bidders. Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been left in the dark over their £5billion proposals to buy the Premier League outfit.

Last week, it was reported that the Glazers were negotiating to hand Sheikh Jassim exclusivity in talks over a takeover. However, that has not been publicly confirmed by any of the parties involved in the process.

Frustration has grown from inside and outside of the club. Head coach Erik ten Hag needs assurances over his summer transfer budget, with rivals now beating United to their targets due to the uncertainty at Old Trafford.

A majority of Red Devils supporters are keen for the controversial Glazer family to sell up. There is no guarantee that the siblings will ultimately depart.

Mbappe speaks out

Man Utd have been linked with Kylian Mbappe.

The striker’s PSG future is uncertain as he has insisted he will not sign an extension to the deal that ends in 2024.

PSG are therefore willing to sell the Frenchman in order to recoup funds and not allow him to leave for free in a year’s time.

A Sheikh Jassim-backed United would supposedly be keen on a deal – but Mbappe wants to see out his contract in Paris.

“I have already said that I will stay. I have already said that long before all this happened,” he said while on international duty.

“There are a lot of things that happen in a year, even more so at a club like Paris Saint-Germain.”

Glazer U-turn

Two of the Glazers have supposedly U-turned on their wish to remain at United in some capacity.

Joel and Avram Glazer were reportedly the two siblings most reluctant to sell their shares in the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s offer – submitted through his petrochemicals giant INEOS – would give the duo a temporary 20 per-cent stake.

However, Joel and Avram are now willing to leave entirely if the right price is met, according to the Financial Times.

It could be a big boost for Sheikh Jassim, whose offer does not include a deal for any of the current owners to stay.

Sheikh Jassim ‘wants Solskjaer return’

Man Utd icon Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in line to return to Old Trafford should Sheikh Jassim win his takeover bid.

The Qatari is keen to place club legends in key roles within the club.

Solskjaer – a former player and manager at United – is on the shortlist to return, according to the Mirror.

The Norwegian was sacked as head coach in late 2021 after a dismal run of form.
