Sheikh Jassim has two ‘no brainer’ Man Utd transfers that Glazers are blocking

Manchester United’s potential next owner Sheikh Jassim has been told of two “no brainer” transfers he can make if he is successful in taking over the club from the Glazers. The Qatari-backed offer is awaiting to discover whether Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe is chosen as the preferred bidder, but could go in a different direction to the Glazer family in the transfer market.

United boss Erik ten Hag is said to be frustrated at the lack of spending since the Glazers announced that they were considering their options seven months ago. The Red Devils have been reluctant to pay the asking prices of top targets Harry Kane and Declan Rice, with such fees unable to be sanctioned until the takeover process is made more clear.

Former United striker Dwight Yorke believes that Jassim needs to bring in a new striker if he gets the nod over Ratcliffe, with Kylian Mbappe his “first choice without question” amid the Frenchman’s own uncertainties at Paris Saint-Germain. The superstar has confirmed that he won’t be extending his contract at the Ligue 1 giants, prompting rumours taking him to Old Trafford.

“I don’t think Erik ten Hag has much time to try and make up that gap between Manchester United and Manchester City,” Yorke told Match.Center. “Even though Manchester United have had a decent season, I felt they were still someway short, and until they fill that number nine spot, that becomes a bit of an issue.

“I think the uncertainty with the takeover is always going to put in an element of doubt, but if I were to choose, then Kylian Mbappe would be my first choice without question. He’s young, obviously he’s unproven in the Premier League but he’s got class and quality and will be there for the next seven years.

“In that period, I’m sure he would bring success to United. For me, Mbappe would be a no brainer, but until the question of where the club is going and who will take over from the Glazers is solved, there will be big question marks, because that’s the only way the club would afford him.”

Yorke feels that with the Glazers at the helm it is impossible to land Mbappe, but PSG owners Qatari Sports Investments may be able to give their compatriot Jassim a helping hand by selling him to United – though Yorke has suggested another option.

“Harry Kane also fits the bill,” he added. If they are trying to get closer to challenging for the Premier League over the next two or three years, then he would be another ideal candidate.”

Kane was reportedly asked to hand in a transfer request by United after making his preference clear that he wants a move to Old Trafford, but the Red Devils have struggled to negotiate with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy.
