Sheikh Jassim has ‘pretty outrageous’ transfer plan if Man Utd takeover happens
Latest Man Utd takeover news
It recently emerged Sheikh Jassim had designs to bring the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Kingsley Coman and Eduardo Camavinga to Manchester United if his takeover bid succeeds. However, the Qatari billionaire’s plan has now been deemed ‘pretty outrageous and far-fetched’. While that’s the case, though, it’s still possible Erik ten Hag will get given some big names providing the Glazers agree to cash in.
Journalist Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport, believes it’s unlikely that United would be able to bring the trio to Old Trafford in the event of a Qatari takeover.
However, he also suggested there may be some element of truth behind the rumours as well.
“It sounds pretty outrageous and far-fetched,” he said when asked about Mbappe, Coman and Camavinga.
“But most leaks do have an element of truth to them.
“Even if this is just a pipe dream, I’m sure this has been mentioned somewhere along the line.”
Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense
Mbappe has been in electric form for PSG ever since signing a new contract at the club last year.
The France international has scored 38 goals from 40 appearances across all competitions, with 26 of those coming in Ligue 1.
PSG won’t want to lose the striker, who is contracted to the club until 2025 following his decision to pen an extension 12 months ago.
And even if they did, Real Madrid would likely be considered the team likeliest to secure the attacker’s signature.
Los Blancos have long admired Mbappe, with interest in the player dating back to when he was strutting his stuff for Monaco.

And though Real are poised to spend big on Jude Bellingham, club president Florentino Perez would potentially make even more funds available should he receive any encouragement.
Real signed Camavinga from Rennes in the summer transfer window of 2021.
The midfielder had been linked with United that summer but reports at the time said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed the youngster was too fragile for the Premier League.
Their loss has been Real’s gain, however, with Camavinga establishing himself as a key player for Carlo Ancelotti.
Though a midfielder by trade he’s also proven to be useful at left-back – starting his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City last week in that position.

And it’s hard to see Real letting Camavinga go just two years into his time at the Bernabeu.
Back in 2020, United considered a deal for Kingsley Coman while struggling to acquire Jadon Sancho.
But the France international has stayed at Bayern Munich ever since and has the backing of Thomas Tuchel as the German continues to adjust to life in his new surroundings.
As well as the trio, United have also been linked with Neymar.
However, speaking recently, Louis Saha advised his old side against a move for the Brazil international.
“It would be great for the Premier League to have Neymar playing in England because he’s such a terrific player,” he said.
“He’s very entertaining to watch but I can understand the question marks that can come from having a player like Neymar at your club. “I’m just a big fan of the player on the pitch but I don’t believe he’s lived up to expectations in his last three or four seasons with PSG.
“I wouldn’t want to see him in a Manchester United shirt considering the exaggerated media attention a superstar like him would attract.
“The team structure is so important and still fragile at times.
“But I certainly believe he’d be a great addition to the Premier League.”
