Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could reportedly been welcomed back to Manchester United in a role should Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani succeed in his takeover bid.
Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe are waiting to discover who has won the long-running battle for control for the club.
After the Glazer family decides who they want to sell to, a further eight to 12 weeks ‘approval process’ would follow before a deal is officially approved which could mean new owners may not be in place before the new season.
According to the Mirror, Sheikh Jassim is prepared to involve Man United legends in the running of the club should he succeed with his takeover bid.
Former Man United star turned manager Solskjaer is reportedly among the club legends under consideration.

The Norwegian scored 126 goals in 366 games for the Red Devils, winning six Premier League titles and famously scoring a Champions League winner in 1999.
Solskjaer had three years as manager of the club, but the 50-year-old was sacked in November 2021 after a poor run of form.
He raised the prospect of a return to Man United last month should a role appeal to him.
‘I’ve got another job in me, if it’s the right chance and exciting enough,’ Solskjaer said.
‘There are so many clubs, but I’m not going to work just for the sake of working. It has to be something special, a new culture, or a club that really excites me.
‘Or maybe they will want me back at the club [United] in some capacity, who knows?’.
A report in the US this week appeared to claim that United were ‘negotiating granting exclusivity’ to the Qatari group led by Sheikh Jassim.
A firm in the name of Nine Two Foundation UK – which is the vehicle Sheikh Jassim would use to buy United – was registered at Companies House.

It is thought that the move was not an indicator of any decision, rather a logical step to ensure the necessary plans were in place should the Qatari group be successful.
Earlier this week, Mail Sport reported how both bidders were finalising deal details with Raine, the US merchant bank handling the process. Each offer is thought to value United at north of £5bn but not the £6bn the Glazers are reportedly seeking.
A decision is expected imminently, although the approval process will delay matters further.
