Alan Shearer has joked he’ll ‘drive Harry Kane’s car to Bayern Munich himself’ to preserve his Premier League goalscoring record after the German champions bid for the Tottenham striker.
Kane, 29, has scored 213 Premier League goals and is within sight of Shearer’s 260 scored for Blackburn and Newcastle.
The England captain has one year remaining on his Spurs contract and will have to be sold this summer to get the £100million they want for their prized asset.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked to Kane but Bayern submitted a £60million offer and the player would be open to moving there.
Spurs rejected the bid as they want Kane to see out his contract.
Bayern Munich have bid £60m for Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane – but that falls well short of Spurs’ valuation and they want Kane to see out the final year of his contract
Alan Shearer has joked he’ll drive Kane to Munich himself with the Spurs man within striking distance of his Premier League goalscoring record of 260
Writing for The Athletic, Shearer said: ‘If Harry wants to join Bayern, I’ll drive his f****** car there myself; anything to protect my Premier League goalscoring record of 260 – Harry is on 213.
‘In truth, any hope there is probably forlorn.
‘Harry is nearly 30, but he looks after himself, he’s steered clear of major injuries and he’s perfectly capable of coming back to England in a couple of years’ time and banging in enough goals to overtake me.
‘Still, though. Give me the keys and a sat nav and off I’ll go…’
Kane overtook Wayne Rooney’s tally of 208 Premier League goals last season to sit second in the all-time list, but he still needs another 47 to catch Shearer.
Shearer won the Premier League title with Blackburn in 1994-95, ‘scratching the itch’ that enabled him to sign for hometown club Newcastle in a world record £15m transfer in 1996.

Bayern endured a difficult season but they still won their 11th Bundesliga title in succession
Bayern’s coach Thomas Tuchel, formerly of Chelsea, is an admirer of Kane and a £60m initial bid for the striker has been submitted
Shearer didn’t win another piece of major silverware after that and that’s a dilemma confronting Kane, who also doesn’t have a winner’s medal.
Breaking Shearer’s record isn’t thought to be a major motivating factor for Kane as he weights up his next move.
There is a belief he should be able to play into his late 30s or even beyond and even if he signs for Bayern, would have ample time to return to the Premier League at a later point.
Sources in Germany told Mail Sport that Kane would consider a move to the Allianz Arena, with Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel known to be an admirer.
The German club’s bid of £60m falls well short of Tottenham’s valuation of between £90m and £100m for Kane.
