The veteran remains sidelined with a calf injury he sustained in training in January

The club released a statement on Monday, which read: ‘Sergio Ramos will continue his individual training for his calf injury. A new evaluation will be made in a week.’

The Spanish defender has been restricted to just four Ligue 1 games for the French giants since his free transfer from Real Madrid in the summer due to injuries.

Most recently, the veteran centre-back sustained  a ‘low-grade’ injury to his right calf in training at the end of January.

The 35-year-old has been plagued with injuries since joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side last summer.

Ramos brought a trophy-laden spell at Real Madrid to an end last year by leaving on a free

A calf problem prevented him from featuring at all in the first 14 league games of the season, before playing the full 90 minutes against Saint-Etienne in late November.

But the club confirmed in early December that he was nursing a new muscle injury which ruled him out of three more Ligue 1 games prior to a return against Lorient just before Christmas.

His last appearance was when he scored against Reims on January 23 before he suffered his latest injury.

Ramos has only played five games for PSG, and has completed the full 90 minutes in just two of them.

Neymar, who has not played since sustaining an ankle injury on November 28, has returned to training fuelling speculation he could return to the side to face the Spanish giants.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid may be without star striker Karim Benzema after the Frenchman missed Los Blancos’ last three games through a muscle injury.

The second leg of the round of 16 tie against the Spanish giants is set to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on 9 March.
