Sergio Ramos on cusp of joining PSG despite ‘Chelsea transfer offer’
Veteran defender Sergio Ramos is set to find a new challenge with PSG this summer after leaving Real Madrid – haven't spent 16 seasons at the club and six of those as captain.
The 35-year-old, who missed out on a call up for Spain's Euro 2020 squad following fitness issues across last season, has left the Spanish capital as they cut back on wages.
Despite no concrete hints over his future until Thursday, there had been talk over a move to Chelsea following the success of Thiago Silva's switch last summer.
Ramos even shared a chat with John Terry on Instagram while looking at goal-scoring defenders this week, but it is rather unlikely that they had a private chat about what life is like at Stamford Bridge.
According to French outlet RMCsport, Ramos has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Pochettino's Ligue 1 runners-up, and will have a medical in the coming days.
That news comes after Spanish outlet El Chiringuito reported that Chelsea had been in touch over a potential free transfer to London.
While fighting back tears at his farewell press conference last month, Ramos told his loyal supporters: “I’ll come back here one day, I’m sure.
"I want to say a huge thanks to Real Madrid, I will always carry you in my heart."

Having made 671 appearances and scored 101 goals across his time at the club, he also grabbed a memorable equaliser during the 2014 Champions League final in which they beat rivals Atletico.
President Florentino Perez said of the departure: "I love Ramos like a son. I brought him in 2005.
"I have never been to a press conference with a player. I have adoration for him. He has been a legend and we stayed with that.
"We offered him a contract, he had a deadline. and he did not admit it. This is his house and he will return safely in another position."
Having said of the disagreement earlier in the summer: "We're in a very tough situation where no one has the money anymore. We've got to be realistic. I've never said that he won't stay.
"At the moment we're completing this season and after that we can see about next year."
Ramos could forge a partnership with club captain Marquinhos under Pochettino next season, who watched his team finish second behind Lille last time out.
