Sergio Aguero is self-isolating after the Manchester City striker tested positive for Covid-19.
The Argentinian confirmed on social media that he had contracted the virus.
Aguero becomes the latest City player to suffer with coronavirus after a recent outbreak in their squad within the past few weeks.
Pep Guardiola's side were in action on Wednesday evening as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 at the Etihad in the Premier League.
City played without Aguero once again, with the goalscorer having endured a turbulent 12 months due to persistent injury woes.
The 32-year-old has made just nine appearances for his club this season, playing just 260 minutes in all.
A knee injuy delayed his start to the campaign, before a hamstring kept him sidelined in November.
Aguero has not been in City’s matchday squad since January 3 when he came off the bench to play four minutes against Chelsea in a 3-1 win.
He won’t be returning any time soon it seems, as the striker follows medical advice by staying away from City’s training ground.
Aguero took to Twitter to say: “After a close contact, I've been self-isolating and the latest test I took was positive for COVID 19.
“I had some symptoms and I'm following doctor's orders for recovery. Take care, everyone!”
