Sergio Aguero eyes role at World Cup after talks with Argentina boss
Sergio Aguero has revealed he could bet set for a role with Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
The Manchester City legend has endured a difficult few months after calling time on his illustrious career back in December.
Aguero was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia while playing for his new club, Barcelona, earlier this season, which forced him to hang up his boots prematurely.
But now City's all-time leading scorer is bidding to put the agony of retirement behind him by playing a crucial role for his country at the upcoming World Cup.
"I am going to the World Cup," Aguero revealed to Radio10.
"This week we are going to have a meeting. I want to be there.
"There is the idea of joining the coaching staff, I spoke with [manager Lionel] Scaloni and also with [president Claudio] Tapia. We have to try it, give it a spin."
Aguero was bidding to jet off to the tournament with Scaloni's side as a player before his untimely retirement earlier in the season.

And while he admitted that jetting off to Qatar later this year and not being able to play would still be a wrench, he's eager to support his teammates in their bid for glory.
He added: "I want to be there, but what happens? The reality is that if I go to the World Cup I’m going to be with the boys, I’m going to go to training.
"That’s not a problem. Clearly I’m going to be there, I’m going to go. If it’s not with the national team, I’m going to go and I’m going to be with the boys. But I’m going to go a little bit to motivate them."

Argentina are bidding to win the World Cup for the first time since 1986, when Diego Maradona's infamous 'Hand of God' goal stole the headlines.
Lionel Messi and the squad are now led by former West Ham flop Lionel Scaloni.
The 43-year-old coach had an unfruitful loan stint with the Hammers during his playing career back in 2006.
He managed to guide Argentina to their first major title since 1993 after winning the Copa America last summer – and he's aiming to follow that up with a world crown in Qatar.
