Sergio Aguero singled out France star Eduardo Camavinga for ridicule during his Instagram Live in Argentina’s dressing room after the World Cup final. Aguero, who was forced to retire from football last December due to a heart condition, was at the heart of Argentina’s celebrations following the dramatic final against France.
Aguero was dressed in a full kit, donning a replica of Nicolas Otamendi’s shirt, as he ran from the stands onto the pitch to celebrate with the players. He was even given the honour by his team-mates of being able to lift the World Cup trophy having played in three tournaments previously.
And the 34-year-old followed the team into the dressing room as they got the party started. Aguero gave fans an insight into the celebrations after starting an Instagram Live video from inside the dressing room.
Lionel Messi was seen dancing with an £8.2million ($10m) cheque while another member of the squad even somersaulted into a bin. But Camavinga was then targeted by Aguero during the feed with the former striker labelling the France star a “d***face”.
Aguero called Camavinga a “cara de p*nga” – which translates to “d***face” in English. It’s not known why the former Manchester City forward targeted Camavinga.
Argentina were celebrating after winning what many have called the best World Cup final in history. Messi and Angel Di Maria had given Argentina a 2-0 lead in the first half and looked to be on their way to a comfortable victory.
But Kylian Mbappe then turned the final on its head with a quickfire brace in the latter stages of the second half. The drama continued in stoppage time as Messi appeared to win it for Argentina with a tap-in from close range.
However, France were awarded their second penalty of the match just minutes later when Gonzalo Montiel handled the ball inside the box. Mbappe duly dispatched his effort to become just the second player in history to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final with the tie being decided with a penalty shoot-out.
Both Messi and Mbappe stepped up first for Argentina and France respectively, scoring both their efforts. Then Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez became the hero of the day for Argentina as he saved from Kingsley Coman before Aurelien Tchouameni pushed his effort wide.
Montiel avenged his earlier mistake in giving away a penalty to score the spot-kick that saw Argentina crowned champions.
