Scott McTominay has spoken about Ralf Rangnick’s management style, praising the Manchester United interim coach for talking straight.
United won their first Premier League game under Rangnick on Sunday, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Old Trafford before earning a 1-1 draw at home to Young Boys in a Champions League dead rubber on Wednesday.
Although United ended up with only a narrow win thanks to a thumping strike from Fred, the effect of the German coach could already be seen against Palace, with the team looking far more organised and comfortable on the ball than under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was sacked last month after seven defeats in 13 matches.

And McTominay said the new coach had impressed the squad with his direct approach in training.
‘The first early impressions are very, very good,’ McTominay told Sky Sports News.
‘He’s very firm, very driven and knows what he wants. In meetings he is very clear, that’s the way it is in football. To get your point across, you have to be clear and you have to be forceful.
‘If players are not doing what you are asking, then he is not shy to tell you as well.
‘We had a good result against Crystal Palace and hopefully now we can move forward now and keep winning football games.
McTominay also defended his partnership with Brazilian Fred, known online as ‘McFred’

‘Football changes quick and you have just got to get on with your job,’ McTominay added.
‘For us, we are just listening and we are learning. We are wanting to do well for his ideas and what he wants and ultimately win games.
‘That’s what him and his coaching staff have come to do – help us win games and keep progressing.’
United academy graduate McTominay has developed into a first-team regular since earning his debut under Jose Mourinho in 2018.
But to some people he plays too regularly, with fans often disparagingly talking of his partnership with Brazilian Fred, which is known online as ‘McFred’.
The Scotland international admitted the pair have struggled at times in a chaotic campaign but insisted he always gives his all whenever he puts on a red shirt.
‘Football changes quick and you have just got to get on with your job,’ McTominay said on United appointing Rangnick after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last month
‘Sometimes games are difficult. We have had difficult moments this season as a squad, and us both as individuals, that’s part and parcel of the game,’ McTominay added
‘I have got nothing else to say other than I give absolutely everything, I am trying my best to improve, to learn. A new coach has come in and I am doing everything that I can possibly do.
‘You just have got to get on with it and be thick-skinned. People can say what they want but ultimately it’s me that’s in my own head, and I know what I am doing behind closed doors is the best thing.’
