Scott McTominay made the journey to London to grab a snap with pop sensation Sir Elton John after his show at the O2 Arena on Sunday evening.

The Manchester United midfielder posted a photo with the Rocket Man singer to the 2.6 million followers on his instagram account after the latest show in London, claiming it was a ‘real honour’ to meet the ardent Watford supporter.

Sir Elton is halfway through his run of 10 shows at the O2 as part of his marathon ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour which has been billed as the last opportunity to see the iconic singer perform live.

McTominay attended the show on Sunday night and stopped by in the backstage area to take a picture with the beloved entertainer.

The Scotland international had scored his first Premier League goal of the season the previous afternoon as Manchester United recorded a 2-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

McTominay enjoyed a night off after opening the scoring for Man Utd against Everton

The 26-year-old’s opener on Saturday was his first league goal of the season for United

McTominay has been enjoying a fruitful spell on the pitch for both club and country since the most recent international break.

The Lancaster-born midfielder netted four goals in two games for Scotland during the recent Euro 2024 qualifiers in March with two goals apiece against Cyprus and Spain.

Since the return to domestic action, McTominay has started in all three of United’s last home games and has since added his first Premier League goal of the season thanks to his 36th minute strike against Everton.

Certain fans have joked that McTominay should be playing in a different position given he has a better strike record than United centre-forward Wout Weghorst in recent months.

Despite his hot form in front of goal, McTominay has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, with high flying Newcastle reported to be interested in bringing him to St James’ Park.

McTominay has been on United’s books since the age of five and the club are said to take great pride in their homegrown player’s progress and development.

Old Trafford sources insist he has an important role to play for the rest of the season and won’t be pushed out before then, with his recent goals certainly coming as a bonus to Erik Ten Hag.
