Lyndon Dykes will be cheered on by wife Victoria when he helps Scotland take on England at Wembley on Friday evening – having joined QPR from Livingston last year.

Dykes earned his move into the Championship by scoring 11 goals across 28 Scottish Premiership fixtures for Livingston, and has managed two goals across his 13 international outings.

The 25-year-old and his 38-year-old partner became a couple after she split from Jim Thomson, who coached Dykes during his time at Queen of the South between 2016 and 2019.

The couple welcomed a son back in 2018, and he paid tribute to her on her birthday back in July by saying: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife. You are amazing. The kids & I love you millions."

One source told the Scottish Sun of their relationship: "Everyone was talking about Lyndon getting together with Victoria after Jim's connection with the club.

"It’s a strange one and there had been lots of rumours. There’s obviously a big age difference, but they’ve had the baby and they seem happy."

Despite his Australian accent, Dykes has Scottish parents having grown up on the Gold Coast in Australia before moving to the UK to play professional football.

Can Scotland shock England at Wembley? Let us know in the comments.

He told FourFourTwo of his upbringing: "I grew up in Australia, and everyone knows football isn’t as big there. My family is quite athletic, so I’d play anything, but my main sport as a kid was rugby league.

"I played it alongside football for a while, then got to the age where I had to choose. In my mind, I actually went with rugby league. But then I moved to the Gold Coast with my mum, where my uncle lives.

"One day he signed me up without me really having a word in it, and that was it – I met my friends and stuck with it. I was a bit of a latecomer, but just tried to get stuck in there…"

Adding when asked about Scotland's chances at Euro 2020: "You can expect a hard-working team.

"A lot of people write us off, but we come in as the underdogs and don’t really care what people say. I think loads of people will write us off in the future, too.

"With the team we have, we simply need to do our own thing: we’ve got great guys, some world-class players in our team, and need to play with the mentality that we can beat anyone on our day.

"It’s all a new experience to me, playing at a major tournament, so that’s going to be exciting – I want to show what I can do."
