Scholes labels himself ‘silly t***’ in ‘favourite’ photo with Ronaldo and Rooney
Paul Scholes labelled himself a "silly t***" after unearthing his "favourite ever pic".
The snap was of the Manchester United legend standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Roy Keane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand during the penalty shootout at the end of the 2005 FA Cup final. Scholes missed the only spot kick that day as United lost to Arsenal, and the ex-England midfielder poked fun at himself after uploading the photo to Instagram.
"My favourite ever pic apart from being the only silly t*** to miss a pen," he wrote, followed by three emojis of monkeys covering their eyes.

It's little surprise Scholes was so fond of the photo despite the agonising circumstances in which it was taken. Together, that group made a whopping 3,679 appearances for United, scoring 780 goals.
Barring Keane, they formed integral parts of the side that swept all before them in the Premier League, winning three league titles in a row between 2007 and 2009, and topping it off with a Champions League triumph in 2008.

Scholes played 718 times for the Red Devils, scoring 155 goals from midfield. He emerged from the club's academy as part of the fabled Class of '92 and went on to spend nearly two decades in the first team.
He won a staggering 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups and two Champions Leagues during his stellar club career. Scholes hung up his boots in 2011 after 17 years at the club, but reversed his decision a year later and re-joined Sir Alex Ferguson's squad for a further season-and-a-half.
