Gianluca Scamacca is set to face England on Thursday night under a cloud of uncertainty as he changes agencies and considers his future with West Ham.
Reports in Italy on Wednesday suggested Scamacca should start over Mateo Retegui at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium for the Azzurri against the Three Lions on Thursday.
Scamacca, who joined West Ham for £35.5million in the summer, is struggling to get a game for the Premier League team.
He has also been criticised by his manager, David Moyes, for his substandard ‘physical data’.
Scamacca left the World Soccer Agency last month.

He is now close to joining CAA Stellar – the same agency which represents several England stars including Jordan Pickford and Jack Grealish.
However, that transition has not been finalised.
Scamacca’s struggles with West Ham have been compared to Sebastien Haller, who joined the club for £45m in 2019 before being sold for £20m in 2021.
