Sarina Wiegman to receive major honour from No 10 if England win World Cup
Sarina Wiegman will be put forward for an ‘honorary damehood’ by the UK Government if she leads England to victory in the Women’s World Cup final on Sunday. England reached the Women’s World Cup final for the first time after spoiling Australia’s party with an impressive 3-1 victory on Wednesday.
It extends England’s incredible record under Wiegman, who is yet to lose a match at a major tournament since taking over the Lionesses.
She led England to victory at the 2022 Euros on home soil for the country’s first trophy of either men’s or women’s team since 1966.
And the 53-year-old is on track to create even more history this weekend when the Lionesses face off against Spain.
If England go on to win the World Cup then both Wiegman and the playing squad will be set to receive a huge welcome home party.

And the Telegraph claim Wiegman herself will be in line for a huge honour from the UK Government.
It’s claimed that Wiegman will be put forward for an honorary damehood if she leads England to glory.
Wiegman would be the first female sporting person to receive an honorary damehood.
Pele and Jacques Rogge are the only two male sporting people to receive an honorary knighthood.
