Sancho transfer timeframe – including when Man Utd move may be completed
Jadon Sancho’s potential move to Manchester United this summer may take some time to complete, even if the Red Devils submit an early bid.
England winger Sancho is once again being linked with a switch to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund.
United have a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old, who first came to attention at rivals Manchester City, before heading off to Germany to kick start his professional career.
Last summer it is believed that United came as close as they ever have to agreeing a deal for Sancho, but Dortmund would not budge on their price tag of over £100m.
This time out though, that asking price has been lowered somewhat, and Eurosport claim that United are hoping to land him for between £65-£75m.
That is what is expected to be put on the bidding table, at least initially, with Dortmund likely to demand somewhere closer to £85m.
Even if negotiations to get underway though, it is highly unlikely that a deal will go through until well into July.
That is because of the short timeframe between the end of the season in both England and Germany, and preparations for the Euros this summer.
Gareth Southgate is expected to announce his England squad for the tournament on May 25, just two days after the end of the Premier League year, and three after the Bundesliga ends, while United won’t have even played their Europa League final against Villarreal at that point.
It is very uncommon for players to complete transfers during major tournaments.

So with Sancho away on international duty from early June until the end of the Euros – the final being on July 11 – there will be little time for negotiations to take place yet.
So that means realistically that we can expect to wait until later in July when all the details have been ironed out to hear anything.
