Salah’s agent reacts to Liverpool transfer rumour months after bumper new deal

Mohamed Salah’s agent blasted rumours linking him with a move away from Liverpool as “nonsense”.

The Egyptian signed an enormous new deal in the summer of 2022 to become the club’s highest-paid player ever. The three-year deal was believed to be worth around £350,000 per-week.

But with Jurgen Klopp’s side enduring a nightmare campaign this season, various claims linking Salah with a Liverpool exit began to speculate. However, Salah’s right hand man Ramy Abbas Issa, was on hand to quash any suggestion the former Chelsea forward was looking for the exit door.

Recently, Spanish outlet Fichajes claimed the Egyptian would be willing to leave the club if they failed to qualify for the Champions League this season. Fortunately for the 30-year-old, Abbas was on hand to stamp on this rumour before anybody began to question his loyalty to the club.

“Nonsense. This was never discussed or thought about,” Abbas tweeted. "Not qualifying to the Champions League hasn’t even crossed our minds."

The Merseysiders are floundering in seventh position, nine points away from fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur. They are also on the cusp of being knocked out of the Champions League after losing 5-2 at home to Real Madrid, who have long been linked with the Egyptian star.

The six-time Champions League winners must beat the Spanish giants at the Bernabeu by three goals, just to force extra time and penalties. It is an extremely tough task, particularly considering their frighteningly inconsistent form.

Klopp has already insisted he wants to stay at the club and oversee a regeneration of the squad and their fortunes. Klopp has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Club World Cup ever since he took over the club in 2015.

Salah’s goal against Real Madrid saw him overtake Steven Gerrard to become the Reds’ highest ever goalscorer in Europe. He has contributed 126 goals and 55 assists in 203 Liverpool appearances.
